Move to Valhalla would signal PGA sellout

I suppose everyone has the right to his opinion, and Ted Bishop certainly deserves his, being a former president of the PGA of America, but I think it would be a huge mistake to make permanent the site of Valhalla Golf Club for both the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup (“PGA, Ryder Cup belong at Valhalla,” Aug. 2, http://bit.ly/2uk1bgK).

Position in the Rolex Rankings for American Lexi Thompson, a career high, entering this week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns Golf Links in St. Andrews, Scotland (tee times: http://bit.ly/2hokFzM). Earlier this year, Thompson hired caddie Kevin McAlpine, who used to loop at Kingsbarns.

Withdrew: From this week’s WGC Bridgestone Invitational and next week’s PGA Championship, Martin Kaymer, who cited an injury to his left shoulder. Kaymer, of Germany, won the 2010 PGA.
