It’s not often in professional sports that a match or game becomes as one-sided as the 12th Presidents Cup.

Over three days and 18 matches at Liberty National Golf Club, the U.S. team has done very little wrong, while the Internationals have failed to slow the American juggernaut. Winning only two matches is no formula for success for the visitors.

In blowout losses, there is a lot of second-guessing and finger-pointing.  

International captain Nick Price is not looking to assess blame entering the final day of the Presidents Cup, and he never would allow such disrespect on his team. However, he and his likely successor, Ernie Els, will have to spend some time reviewing exactly went wrong.

The greatest thing about televised sports is the absence of scripted action, the inherently unpredictable nature of live competition and the fallibility of the guys standing at the center of a spontaneous arena.

Yet, somehow, the Presidents Cup matches have turned into the most predictable template since NBC aired the storied, New York-based Law & Order series several years ago – and not just because actor Anthony Anderson, who starred in the show’s final season, handled the player introductions this week at the first tee.



Number of times that Belen Mozo, the 54-hole leader in the New Zealand Women’s Open, has won on the LPGA. Mozo, 29, of Spain, shot 1-under 71 at Windross Farm Golf Club in Ardmore, New Zealand, for a 15-under 201 total. Canada’s Brooke Henderson (67) stood second at 14-under 202. American Brittany Lincicome (66) and China’s Jing Yan (69) were tied for third at 11-under 205 (scores:
