In a charity event Monday, Nicklaus shot his age, 78, at The Bear’s Club, which he founded and designed, in nearby Jupiter.

Nicklaus plays infrequently, so shooting his age was impressive, even if he had to move up to the 5,805-yard 3 Bear tees to do it.

15

Number of finishes of 15th or better, in 22 starts worldwide since winning last year’s Honda Classic on the PGA Tour, for American Rickie Fowler. The Honda Classic begins today at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with Fowler back to defend his title (tee times).

Withdrew: Stacy Lewis, from the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament that begins today (tee times), citing strained ribs, according to LPGA.com. Lewis flew home to the U.S. and will miss next week’s HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. Lewis, 33, a 12-time winner on the LPGA who is No. 18 in the Rolex Rankings, expects to return to competition next month at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup in Phoenix.
