It’s 6 o’clock at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, and the beautiful orange sky has given way to the black of night. It’s been dark for half an hour, and 17 of 18 players in the elite field at the Hero World Challenge long since have left for the day. One remains.

Casting a tall shadow on the practice tee 15 yards in front of the bright headlights of a golf cart, Bryson DeChambeau is still hard at work. He’s hitting golf balls that nobody really can see, but he feels them, and every single one has a purpose. Those that he doesn’t strike just right get a complete and thorough analyzation before the club is drawn back again.


Hawk & Rude’s latest podcast speaks volumes
The podcast interview of golf historian Martin Davis by John Hawkins and Jeff Rude was fabulous (“Hawk & Rude: Blasts on the past,” Nov. 29).

I always find the Hawk & Rude podcasts entertaining, but their most recent effort is especially informative and thought-provoking.

TPC Danzante Bay will celebrate its first anniversary with a discounted golf/spa package for reservations made by the end of the year, course operators announced. TPC Danzante Bay, part of the Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at The Islands of Loreto on Baja California in Mexico, is a Rees Jones-designed course.


By early 2019, Golf Life Navigators will have doubled in size, to more than 1,000 private clubs that will be available to prospective members, the company announced. Golf Life Navigators, which connects golfers with their ideal country-club home in Florida, Arizona and the Carolinas, intends to expand into California, Georgia and Texas.
