What happens if Tiger Woods wins the Masters today? Have you thought about it? And once you do, are you able to quit thinking about it?

This will not be your father’s nappy Sunday afternoon at the Masters. And for the record, Internet trolls, I said if Woods wins today, not when. Please note this before your next baby-has-a-full-diaper rant.

Francesco Molinari was a 20-1 pick among oddsmakers to win his second major championship and first green jacket when the 83rd Masters started Thursday morning.

Since then, he has made only one bogey over 54 holes, on the difficult par-4 11th hole in his opening round, and recorded 14 birdies to establish a two-shot lead over Tiger Woods and Tony Finau going into one of the most anticipated Sundays in Masters history (scores).

Venerable Augusta National was deemed vulnerable on a Masters moving day in which three golfers shot 64, and none is even in the lead.

They are all chasing Italian Francesco Molinari, who fired a second straight bogey-free round (66) to claim a two-stroke lead over Tiger Woods and Tony Finau (scores). Molinari said he looked at the pin placements before his round and knew he'd have a chance to make birdies.

Give Woods his due, regardless
Reader Kenneth C. Taylor seems to be unhappy that Tiger Woods still moves the needle in golf journalism (“From the Morning Read inbox,” April 13). I, too, was golfing before Woods was born and perhaps before Taylor was, as well. However, that fact does not restrict me from acknowledging that Woods has had the most profound impact on golf since Arnold Palmer.

Woods and his game are the genus behind the equipment explosion, golf fashion, golf TV, tournament prize money and overall golf awareness. To state otherwise is simply incorrect.

Amount, in millions of dollars, that the winner of today’s Masters Tournament will pocket. It’s a record amount for the Masters, out of a tournament-record $11.5 million purse, for the annual event at Augusta National Golf Club.
