The caddie-player relationship is one of the most tenuous in human dynamics. A seemingly professional bliss can be shattered in one round or even one shot.

Jordan Spieth, 25, a three-time major champion, has had the same caddie, Michael Greller, on the bag for all of his 6½ years on the PGA Tour. Many observers rate Greller as one of the best caddies on the PGA Tour. He has been a steady jockey on the back of one of golf’s thoroughbreds.

Appreciate golf history as a national treasure
I was pleased to see Morning Read acknowledge the importance of the history of our game in two articles Thursday (“Koepka 3-peat would turn back clocks” and “Champions Tour offers more than legends,” June 13).

History is so very important generally, and it translates to specific sports as well. The sports we play and how we play them are a direct reflection of our society as a whole.

Troon appointed Ruth Engle and Bob Eddy to its board of directors, the management company announced. Engle is Troon’s chief financial officer, and Eddy is the chief financial and administrative officer at BJ’s Wholesale Club.


Branson Hills Golf Club will celebrate its 10th anniversary this month, highlighting the Branson, Mo., area as a summer golf destination. Branson Hills, recently ranked by Golfweek magazine as the No. 2 public-access course in Missouri, is among 11 courses in an Ozarks area known for its entertainment.


Puerto Rico’s golf courses and resorts reported substantial growth in rounds played and revenue during the first four months of 2019 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Discover Puerto Rico. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Golf & Beach Resort, Rio Mar Country Club and TPC Dorado Beach were among the courses that reported growth.
