He wins major championships these days as if they’re reduced for clearance. Was it this easy for you, Tiger?

He holes out so often, it’s as if he’s putting into a funnel. Color us jealous, maybe even a little bitter.

He is No. 1 in the senior circuit’s unofficial rankings and would be the likely first pick in any Champions Tour fantasy draft. Wait, they’ve got that?

Dustin Johnson remains stuck on one major title, a victory that occurred three years ago. How many majors will Johnson have won when his career ends?

Faulkner’s legend grows with impromptu lesson
To add to Max Faulkner’s colorful life (“Colorful Faulkner adds pizzazz to Portrush,” July 10): For many years, while a member at Cooden Beach Golf Club, I lived in The Dormy House at Bexhill-on-Sea, England, Faulkner’s birthplace. While there, I had the pleasure of meeting Faulkner many times and found him to be a delightful character.

On one occasion I sought him out at Storrington, West Sussex, where his son-in-law, Brian Barnes, himself a fine tournament golfer with three top-10 finishes in the British Open, had opened his own golf course. Faulkner, dispensing with flamboyant attire in such rural surroundings, would dress down while helping around the course. Often seen wearing baggy old trousers, with bailing cord tied around the ankles and topped off with a scruffy “cheese cutter” cap, he easily could be mistaken as one of the green staff.

Added: To the British Open field, Slovakia’s Rory Sabbatini, who will replace American Kevin Na, who withdrew from next week’s event because of an undisclosed injury. Sabbatini, 43, a six-time winner on the PGA Tour, has not played in the Open since 2011.

Number of consecutive rounds on the PGA Tour in which a competitor has shot 62. Mexico’s Roberto Diaz was the latest, shooting 9-under 62 on Thursday to open a two-stroke lead in the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Hawk & Rude: Draft codgers
