There’s an upside to a 5-hour round
Slow play affects everyone's round of golf, but contrary to current public opinion, it is not always a negative.

Yes, some of my best rounds have been played in three hours, but so have some of them been played in five. The day, the swing, my physical condition and the luck of the bounce all play a role in the length of play. As with most golfers, some days everything works and others – well, not so much.

The FedEx Cup playoffs continue this week with the BMW Championship being broadcast on Golf Channel and NBC. Coverage begins at 3 p.m. EDT today on Golf Channel. Golf Channel also will broadcast from the European Tour’s D+D Real Czech Masters, the Korn Ferry Tour’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship and the Champions Tour’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Open.

 

Through the first seven months of the year, Cordillera Ranch reported a 9-percent rise in the average sale price of homes at the community in Boerne, Texas, from the same period in 2018. Thirty-four homes totaling $39.6 million were sold from January through July, compared with 30 homes worth $31.5 million for the same period in 2018.

 

Giants Ridge has introduced the Finn Cycle to the resort in Biwabik, Minn., the club announced. The Finn Cycle, a two-wheeled electric cycle, will rent for $21 plus tax.

 

Mauna Lani introduced the Unlimited Golf Stay & Play package at the Hawaii resort. The deal includes oceanfront accommodations, daily breakfast and play on Mauna Lani’s North and South courses from Jan. 1 through June 30.

 

Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, Calif., raised $75,000 for four East Bay charities at the Kids-n-Need golf tournament earlier this year. In the past seven years, the tournament has raised $314,500 for East Bay charities.
