I am sure that I speak for many golf fans when I say that the game owes an enormous “thank you” to Tiger Woods for years of entertainment and that the golf world is better with him than without him (“Woods one-ups M.J. as Chicago’s GOAT,” Aug. 14).

Whether or not his years of winning are gone (Alex Miceli, are you listening?), he continues to provide a great deal of entertainment. Perhaps it’s time to cut back a little on the “will he be well enough to play?” analysts and let his appearances tell the story.


Apologized: Collin Richards, a homeless man, in a handwritten note to a judge in Ames, Iowa, for killing former Iowa State golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena, the Des Moines (Iowa) Register reported. Richards, 22, is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 23 to life in prison without parole for his conviction in Barquin’s stabbing death.

St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla., has hired Eric Fritsche as its executive chef. Fritsche had been with River & Post restaurant in nearby Jacksonville.


Dave Daubert has joined the writing staff at NewEngland.Golf, the digital marketing platform announced. Daubert will contribute to the website with coverage of travel, lifestyle, commentary and special assignments, with a focus on Florida.


Xander Schauffele will join host David Feherty on his show “Feherty,” which will air at 9 p.m. EDT Monday on Golf Channel, the network announced. Schauffele, a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, was the 2017 rookie of the year.


Club Champion promoted its 21st-century technology as the difference in its club-fitting service. The company employs TrackMan launch monitors, computers and ultrasound putting systems at its facilities.


The PGA Fashion & Demo Experience concluded Wednesday as thousands of PGA professionals, industry leaders and lifestyle-specialty retailers met in Las Vegas. The two-day conference included merchandise sourcing, buying product testing, education and networking.


White Bluff Resort in Whitney, Texas, is preparing to reopen its two golf courses in the coming weeks after renovations to the greens and bunkers. The Old and New courses, designed by the late Bruce Lietzke, hug Lake Whitney in the 3,450-acre resort community.
